IDS NXT ocean brings AI into factory automation

IDS will soon launch a major upgrade for all intelligent IDS NXT industrial cameras. With version 2.0 of the complete inference camera solution “IDS NXT ocean”, the company extends the AI capabilities by object recognition, adds many turnkey solutions and opens the system with the Vision App Creator SDK for developers and AI specialists. With the pre-installed Vision Apps “Classifier” and “Object Detector” users can perform many different image analyses – which is very convenient if they want to classify one or several image components or aim to identify specific objects. Via OPC UA, AI-based image processing can soon also be integrated directly into factory automation without having to write a single line of code.

The IDS NXT rio and rome inference cameras are part of the all-in-one solution. They stand for industrial-grade camera hardware with a powerful AI core, GigE interface and are available with sensors from 3.1 to 6.4 MP. Neural networks are executed hardware-accelerated and run directly on the devices, which enables inference times of just a few milliseconds. AI per edge device – easier than ever!

With IDS NXT ocean, users do not need to be experts in deep learning or image processing to create a neural network. Thanks to the IDS NXT lighthouse cloud software, which is also part of the all-in-one system, everybody can train an AI classifier with their own image data. Users do not have to set up their own development environment first, but can start training their individual neural network right away. This involves three basic steps: To upload sample images, to label the images and then to start the fully automatic training. The generated network can then be executed directly on the IDS NXT industrial cameras, turning them into powerful inference cameras. With the upgrade to IDS NXT ocean 2.0, professionals with in-depth knowledge of image processing, artificial intelligence, camera technology or application development will be able to delve deeper into the workflow and thus can even better adapt the inference solution to their own requirements.
